Happy 100 Years T&TFA...

It was a big night in Trinidad. I wasn't able to get there having just returned the same night from the Republican National Convention in Minneapolis.

Clearly, I wanted to express my congratulations for my friends in the T&TFA, especially Jack Warner, who has guided that organization throgh decades of development and success.

No one better than I realize the obstacles he has had to endure to achieve the values that are now part of their game, at club level, national level and internationally.

So, along with the heartfelt thoughts of mine expressed to the T&TFA in the letter on the right (click on it to expand), I want to covey a special contratualtions to Jack Austin Warner for his leadership of that organization since the 70s.

Well done.

From the Floor of the RNC...

Dr. Know was there too...

Dr. Henry Kissinger, a person who straddles not only generations in political terms, but also bridges the worlds of sport and politics with his well known love for the game of soccer, was also a McCain invitee to the Republican National Convention.

Soccer Moms Beware...

Despite the references to Hockey Moms, I can report that Soccer Moms have nothing to fear. While Sarah Palin made her acceptance speech on Wednesday night in the Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul, Minnesota, we were in the McCain family Suite where I had the opportunity to meet up with the British Ambassador to the United States Sir Nigel Sheinwald. You can imagine, with immediate recognition, the discussion turned to football and the World Cup 2018. Now, that is the kind of international politics I understand and so did he.

Sarah Palin posed the question, "What is the difference between a Hockey Mom and a Pit Bull?" She answered, "One wears lipstick." My experience tells me that if she had posed that question about Soccer Dads looking to host the World Cup and Pit Bulls, the answer would have been simpler. There is no difference.

I look forward to meeting Ambassador Sheinwald in New York soon and we can talk about Soccer Dads and hosting the World Cup.

Meghan's Booksigning...

Following the Tuesday night's session of the Convention, a cocktail party was held at the W Hotel in downtown Minneapolis to give delegates and donors an opportunity to meet and get an autographed copy of Cindy and John McCain's oldest daughter, Meghan's book My Dad, John McCain.

Meghan has been on the campaign trail with her dad since last summer and has been doing daily postings on her blog of life in the campaign McCain Blogette. It is good reading with great pictures and video. Check it out.
