A night at Comix...

Mary Lynn spotted an ad in the newspaper promoting a special show, I guess pre-Mother's Day, put on by three well known female comics, each of whom had a baby in the last year. My kids each had one in the last two years, so we decided to invite them to the Comix, 353 West 14th Street, right on the edge of the Meat Packing District (very fashionable these days) for a night of fun.

I must admit, it turned out much better than expected. Most comedy clubs are shoddy, smell like spilled beer and have lousy food that they sometimes have to send out to a neighboring restaurant to provide something to go along with the drinks they are pushing.

Comix is different. It is clean. Has a bar with a lounge atmosphere to wait in before show time. The food is actually very good. The drinks are real and the service is prompt. Is smells fresh and is a first class place for an evening's entertainment. It has a great stage, sound system and sight lines for the 320 seats.

Best of all, top flight comics. The show was MC'd by Kyle Grooms and featured Lisa Landry, Laurie Kilmartin and Bonnie McFarlane. Laurie was the MC at Marci's Birthday party in April. The following clip from a recent Comedy Central show features headliner Lisa Landry. Don't press the play button unless you like hard and blue humor.
